KUALA LUMPUR: Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir is mulling over whether to include state representatives from the opposition to sit in the state’s action committees.
“We will look into the possibility of including them (in action committees).
“They did not include us when they were in power but we are not thinking about taking revenge,” he told a press conference after chairing the state’s weekly exco meeting here yesterday.
The meeting was held in the federal capital because Dr Zambry is accompanying the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah, to the 220th meeting of the Conference of Rulers.
Former Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Nizar Jamaluddin had laid down conditions for Pakatan Rakyat assemblymen to work with the state government, including full access to public amenities, include them in action committees at the state, and district levels and grant them direct allocations.
Dr Zambry said that allocations for every state constituency would be channelled directly through the development of infrastructures.
“This has been the practice. We extend assistance in various forms to everyone in Perak without asking their backgrounds.
“To us, whatever we want to spend on the people must go directly to them,” Dr Zambry added.
Dr Zambry also stressed that he would not allow himself to be distracted with the conditions put forward by the opposition.
“Now is the time to work and deliver what we have promised.
“We have big plan for the people of Perak,” he said.
Mohamad Nizar had said on Tuesday that Pakatan was willing to work with Dr Zambry but on certain conditions.
“We want the five governing principles of the Pakatan state administration, which are transparency, integrity, welfare, justice and equality, to be made the core of Zambry’s administration.
”Based on this, we will work together with Zambry for the good of the people without discrimination or segregation of race and religion,” he said.
Mohamad Nizar, however, stressed that Pakatan had not given up on the idea of seeking the dissolution of the state assembly.
“It will not be our main focus now, but we are not conceding,” he said.
