Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid, who confirmed that the victim in the footage had lodged a report, said criminals often targeted vehicles without passengers and when valuable items were placed in the front or back passenger seat.
Police said nobody had come forward to help in investigations.
Abby Lu, 30, a victim of a similar incident at almost the same location, said she lost her smartphone, iPad and a wallet when her bag was snatched three weeks ago.
“It happened so fast that I did not have time to react," she said, adding that the broken glass caused scratches on her body.
However, Kuala Lumpur chief police officer Deputy Comm Zulkifli Abdullah said such cases were on the decline.
Women groups urged victims to lodge police reports to help identify hotspots for such crimes
