Nizar: We don't recognize notice for Mar 30 sitting

IPOH, Mac 2: Perak Pakatan Rakyat will not recognize a notice calling for an assembly sitting on March 30 because it was not issued by the state’s rightful Speaker V Sivakumar. “As far as we are concerned, the Perak state legislature has only one Speaker and that is V Sivakumar, the DAP assemblyman for Tronoh,” deposed Mentri Besar Nizar Jamaluddin told Harakahdaily. Umno-BN, which now controls the state government, had sent out the notices issued by MIC’s R Ganesan, whose position as Speaker has been challenged in the courts. Nizar pointed out that Ganesan had also violated Article 36A of the Perak Constitution by failing to resign as a practicing lawyer within three months after his disputed appointment as the Speaker.
